Sketchbook 2012

Saturday, September 17, 2011

My 2012 Sketchbook for the Sketchbook Project just came in!
My subject:   Hope
Yes, yes, I chose my own name out of the possible pre-set
themes lineup.  I mean seriously.  If your name were Hope, wouldn't
you?

Ok probably not--but we treat the themes as jumping off points, not
real rules per se.

On the back is my personal scancode, or UPC, that will be scanned
every time someone checks  my book out of the archive.
So, every time someone looks at my particular book, for as long as it is
in the permanent collection, I will know it!
Weeeeeeird.

It's a fairly small book, moleskine-size, and the pages are quite thin.
I think most people are planning on gessoing the pages, or deconstructiong
the book all together, and recreating it out of stronger stuff.
I still haven't decided what I will be doing, it's due the end of January 2012 I believe.
I have no illusions about whether or not my book will be special or groundreaking
or change the lives of those who read it or something.....but I hope one day
someone picks it up and smiles, or laughs, or grimaces, or whatever.

Y'hear that Muse?  January.
Here we go.

One of the very active ATC-makers out there, the talented EraserQueen has a new contest going for her 'Women of India' class!

I'd love to join one of the classes one day--but I've neither the willpower
nor the guts (or funds!) to do it yet!

In other news, I got my sketchbook in today for the Sketchbook Project 2012.
It's just lying there, all possibility and judgemental white pages.
My theme is "Hope" and I want to do something story-based
so that each page has a part in the whole.  I do enjoy a good
sketch narrative, and I've never done anything like that
What better time?!

Now, random ATCs.
